Found Money HQ is an independent, privately run website. We are not a government agency and we are not affiliated with any state unclaimed property program, the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) or MissingMoney.com.

What we do

We keep a checked list of the official unclaimed property search for every state and DC, and we explain the claim process in plain English. Searching and claiming is always free directly with your state.

What we don't do

• We don't search state databases for you or store your name.
• We don't file claims on anyone's behalf, act as an heir finder or asset locator, or sign finder-fee or percentage agreements.
• We don't give legal, tax or financial advice. For complex estates, talk to a licensed attorney.

How we make money

We sell an optional do-it-yourself claim kit ($9–$19, one time). In the future we may also earn affiliate commissions (see below). Neither affects which official links we show.

Affiliate disclosure

Some future links in our "What to do with your found money" section may be affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We will label every affiliate link clearly. As of October 2026 we have no affiliate partners, and the boxes on the site marked "Affiliate link placeholder" are empty slots, not endorsements.

Accuracy

We verify official links regularly (last check: October 2026). States sometimes change their websites. If a link is wrong, email hello@foundmoneyhq.com.
